Princess Marie of Denmark
















Marie Agathe Odile, now called officially Her Royal Highness Princess of Denmark, Countess of Monpezat, was born on 6 February 1976 in Paris, France.

Princess Marie's parents are Alain Cavallier and Françoise Grassiot, who married on 14 June 1975, and have subsequently divorced.

Princess Marie has four half-brothers, Benjamin and Gregory Grandet, were born in Switzerland, and Charles and Edouard Cavallier, were born in Paris. Like Princess Marie, all her four half-brothers grew up in Paris.

Education

Princess Marie attended primary school in Paris from 1981 to 1989. In 1989, Princess Marie attended the Beau-Soleil International Boarding School in Villars, Switzerland, and stayed there until upper secondary examination in June 1993.

Princess Marie studied international business and economics at Babson College, Boston, Massachusetts, USA (1995-1997) and economics at university in Genève (1994-1995). She also has a Bachelor of Arts from Marymount Manhattan College, New York (1997-1999).

Career

As a university student, Princess Marie worked at Estee Lauder in Paris as an assistant to the PR manager in the summer of 1994, and in the summer of 1997 as an assistant to the managing director of ING Numismatic Group SA in Genève, Switzerland. She also taught French.

After having completed university, Princess Marie worked at the advertising agency DoubleClick in New York as international marketing coordinator. In 2002, Princess Marie moved to Paris and worked in the press department of an advertising agency called Media Marketing.

In 2004, Princess Marie became assistant to the managing director of Reuter’s in Genève. From January 2005 and until the wedding to Prince Joachim, Princess Marie worked as executive secretary in ING Numismatic Group SA.

Languages

Princess Marie can speak French, English, Italian and Spanish and is currently taking lessons in Danish.
